Most living organisms lack mechanisms that rotate like motors, except for "flagella." Found primarily within the bodies of organisms, this robot, named after the sole rotating organ of a cell, appears to twist and contort like something soft, but it is composed of several tubular parts with gentle curves. By twisting to rotate, it achieves supple movement. This work was created for the "Bones" exhibition directed by Shunji Yamana, held at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT in 2009.
